BRRRRRRRRR

Yes it can get cold in Arizona.  It is not common but we are having a cold snap that even had us wearing our winter coats last night. It has got down to minus 5  a few nights and pipes are freezing on many places even when they have covered the exposed pipe with blankets. It seems to unfreeze by mid morning but still a nuisance if one wants to shower early or make coffee.. Some plants have leaves that are shriveled but I still see lots of oranges on the trees that do not seem effected.....
The worst is the electrical bills as the heat just seems to keep running all the time.  The reason it runs constantly,is because things like 5th wheels and park models are not winterized like at home and the heat escapes very quickly and the cold just seems to ooze in through the walls.  Right now I am sitting with a blanket around my shoulders, a comforter around my legs, and a hot coffee beside me.....
I do not want to turn up the heat too soon as when we read our meter for the one month it shows a bill of $332.00  Our landlord is saying we have to pay him .20 a KWH and that is what it comes to even though he is only charged .108 and less on his bill.  He has not received the bill yet and said he will wait until he gets it.  We will refuse to have him make money on the electrical bill. He gets his rent and he can not set himself up as an electrical company.  Last year we never paid more than $70 for a month.....but expect it to be $100 or so with the cold but $332 is ridiculous.

On a different note, we had a great day yesterday when Keith and Edna Bratvold (who are wintering in Mesa) brought Joyce Olesen down to our place for the day. Joyce is visiting them for a week and I am so sorry she missed the warm weather. They arrived for lunch and we had lots of laughs and conversation through the afternoon. Don and Betty Loeppky were here as well.
After they left, I ran around putting up signs for the upcoming play production in February.
A quick bite and off to Card Bingo with Don and Betty.  I won 3 times and so did Don....You only put in a dime per game and with it so cold, only 24 were playing so as you can see, our winning were a mere pittance, but feed for next weeks games ha ha.  Oh old people have so much fun!!

Today we are selling the first tickets for the play.  They sell out quickly so we could be busy. But another table is setting up as well and that one may be busier as it will be the first time for the unveiling of the calendar they are selling for $12.00  It is the parks version of Calendar Girls. Remember the movie of the older women posing "nude" with props covering any thing revealing. Well this one is similar I understand and called "Barely there in Sunscape"  There are 60 women revealed and not sure how that is done with only 12 months.
