A week ago the day started with a bustle as we rushed around to clean the floors again, get the beds ready, and things moved to make room for 3 more in our small house.
At about 3 o'clock we decided to head into Mesa even though Shannon, Rachel and Celine's plane would
not arrive until 9:20 pm.....
We figured we would drive around and look for places we want to go to in the future but by the time we got to the mall near the airport the traffic was terrible and so we just drove up to Superstition Mall and after a bit of walking and knowing we had hours to kill we went to a movie.... No 3D this time but it was one with lots of killing, shooting and scares so I spent most of the time with my eyes closed. I think Harvey did enjoy it. After a long supper we headed to the airport and had another long wait as their plane was 45 mins late. They finally arrived and we headed home..... We got to bed at 1 am after unpacking, opening some Christmas gifts and having hot appetizers that were not cooked on top and burnt on the bottom with my stove that is so unpredictable....
The week went fast and we worried that they would be bored. "Teens in a senior park`" That sounds like a real horror movie.
The real bad part was that Harvey started to not feel well at the movie theatre and it progressed over the week, with high fevers, hurting chest, cough and finally runny nose.... All the aches and pains that go with a winter flu. (Yes we did have our flu shot but I guess not for this one) I finally took him to the walk in clinic on New Years morning and they gave him medication for Bronchitis. It was a strong antibiotic that he only took for 3 days but the side effects were almost worse. Hopefully today he is on the mend.
So the girls and I went to malls, shopped and ate out often, also drove to a Fashion mall in Chandler, drove to the Mesa Swap Meet and Market, took in the Goldfield Ghost Town with gunfight
and lunch in a saloon and then a mini tour of a bordello of the old western days....The girls did not know what a bordello was, so I said whore house,,,,,still blank look but when I said Hookers and they then understood. .......Some interesting facts were learned by us all.
They also got in 2 afternoons of laying by the pool or swimming to soak up some Arizona sun.
Yesterday it was pack up the suitcases that were fuller than when they landed, and a warning from me that they may have to take some things out, we drove to Florence and drove by the prisons to see the men in orange in the yards and then to the Queen Creek Olive Mill for a nice lunch in the hot sun.
We got to the airport early to get them through check in,,,,and what to their surprise!!!! (not mine)......one suitcase was overweight and one underweight but full. So the 3 suitcases were spread out on the floor in front of the checkin counter and clothes and makeup were moved and shoved where they would fit....as people walked by and laughed....(maybe they had been there before lol)Back up for a weigh in and still 2 pounds over weight. So the olive oil and tapenaude just purchased had to be removed and handed over to me to bring home when we come back. Just then they saw in the line up their neighbours from Winnipeg and they had room for the Olive Mill purchase.
.......they headed through security and we headed home to relax after a good week with our loved ones.
So that is a quick update on why the blog has been silent for a week. I will get back to writing my drivel again.......
Happy New Year to all
Lovely week for you all How nice.
